Hummingbird Rendevoux

by Bee-Jay

Hummingbirds are very fun to watch. We have noticed that after the hay is cut many come to our feeders.

We have a male Rufous Hummingbird which sits at the top of our house and watches all three feeders to make sure no other hummer is eating. If someone is a t his feeder he dives down, chases them away and returns to his rooftop. After a little research we found our that the:

Rufous is the feistiest hummingbird in North America. They are relentless attackers at flowers and feeders, going after larger hummingbirds. They are pugnacious birds that tirelessly chase away other hummingbirds, even in places they’re only visiting on migration.

Despite his ruthless character we all really like him.
