Knowledge of the classical writers of a person’s language is very beneficial to education. It is a person’s duty to strive for as good an education as he his capable of attaining.
When a person understands who has come before him, and reads of the thoughts and opinions of past influential members of society who shared his language, he can feel united to all times and all people of his language.
Classical writers such as William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Jane Austen formed a large part of the way we think of modern English grammar, and a thorough knowledge of their works cannot but have its effects of higher education in the minds of readers.
Such a great understanding also assists people to have an easy icebreaker when they meet others because it makes him more relatable and interesting. The cultivating of a mind in this way assists in building proper grammar and a vast vocabulary in the garden of a person’s mind.
Every person who truly desires to be educated should start by striving to have at least a basic understanding of the works of the classical writers of his language.
