We’re entering a new era in film—one where families reject what’s tearing down our culture and choose the true, the good, and the beautiful. Studios like Angel Studios and Industrious Family Films are forging a way with fun family movies to watch that do more than entertain—they uplift and inspire.

Let me paint you a picture: It’s Holy Saturday. Mom was in town yesterday and saw that Angel’s newest film, The King of Kings, was playing at our local theater.
Mary and I hadn’t been super excited about this release, but with it playing so irresistibly close to us, the choice was made for us. Our younger brothers and sisters scraped and searched all the possible—and impossible—places where they might have stashed their money. It was money they had planned to use for tickets to The Last Rodeo when it comes out, but they were confident they’d be able to see that one in theaters too.
So we ended up bringing all of them to the theater.
We sat together—quite a crowd of our own. We laughed together and cried together. Rene ended up cuddled on my lap since some scenes were a little intense for a four-year-old. Still, it was a memorable night and reminded us how powerful fun family movies to watch can be when you don't have to worry about woke agendas ruining it.
Meanwhile, the live-action Snow White remake was playing in other parts of the country. We had not cared a mite when it was playing in our theater last week. (I was even dubious of the fact that it had played in our town at all, but Mary assured me that it did. It just shows how little I cared whether it did or not.)
And don't get me wrong, there are several Disney remakes that I have enjoyed and I am not of the opinion that everything that comes out of the studio is going to harm children's souls.
But Snow White? Too long ago, cover was not intriguing, and the original story isn't even that relatable.

And I'm not alone in the assessment of the new Snow White film. I recently saw a social media post saying that if you wanted a quiet theater experience all to yourself, tickets to Snow White would be well worth it.
"Quiet"—the total opposite of our experience watching The King of Kings, which was full of life, with entire families filling the seats. Grandparents were there with their grandkids. Several babies were present too, making their typical gurgles, cries and coos. But it sounded like music because it proved to me that faith-based films are the future of cinema.
It was a little sad, though.
The grandparents bringing their grandchildren to The King of Kings were from the generation that once did exactly what we did for all the Disney films. I know some families were ahead of the curve, thinking Disney was problematic from the start. But for the most part, Disney was the trusted studio that always produced fun family movies to watch and everyone scraped pennies together just to catch the newest release.
What a flip-flop that company has seen over the last decade. In 2016, Disney was trying to crush VidAngel for daring to edit inappropriate content out of Disney films for family viewing. VidAngel eventually split and gave rise to Angel Studios.
Now, nine years later, Angel’s films are the ones families are clamoring to watch—while Disney’s latest release bombs.
We’re entering a new era in film. It’s an era where families are rejecting what’s tearing down our culture and choosing instead the true, the good, and the beautiful.
