A Christmas Movie About Prayer, Sacrifice, and the Communion of Saints

This Christmas movie follows Anne, a young girl with very little money but a deeply generous heart. With the last pennies from her modest earnings, Anne offers a Mass for the intention of the poor soul closest to heaven.

After leaving the church that day, Anne meets a kind gentleman who tells her about a home in need of a housekeeper. Grateful for the opportunity, she follows his directions and arrives at the house.

Inside, Anne meets the woman who owns the home and explains why she has come. As they speak, Anne notices a photograph of the very same man she met earlier. The woman explains that the man in the picture was her only son — and that he has passed away. She insists it could not have been him.

Anne then shares something extraordinary. She has been praying and offering Masses for the poor soul closest to heaven. In that moment, they both understand the truth: Anne’s prayers helped free a soul from purgatory, and that soul appeared to her in her time of need.

Anne remains in the home, becoming like a daughter to the grieving woman. Together, they find comfort, belonging, and hope — just in time for Christmas.

Behind the Scenes: Filming Our Christmas Movie

What makes A Home for Christmas especially meaningful is how it was made.

Filming this Christmas movie was a joyful and deeply personal experience for our family. We transformed our grandma’s house into the film’s setting, and nearly every part of the production became a shared family effort.

  • My mom played Kathleen, the lady of the house
  • My sister played Mary, the maid
  • I played Anne (Adelaide)
  • My brothers and sisters appeared as background characters

We filmed right here in our town, working side by side as a family — acting, set dressing, and bringing the story to life together. Creating this Christmas movie wasn’t just about telling a story; it was about living it.

This behind-the-scenes experience reflects what Industrious Family Films is all about: families creating meaningful, faith-filled entertainment together, for other families.

The Message of the Film

A Home For Christmas BHTS 01

This Christmas movie reminds us of the importance of praying for the poor souls — souls who suffer the pains of purgatory with the hope of heaven. The story shows how prayer, sacrifice, and obedience to God can lead to unexpected blessings.

Anne prays for a soul in need, and in return, she receives help when she needs it most. The film gently encourages families to remember the faithful departed and trust that faithful sacrifice is never wasted.

Will your family pray for the poor souls?
