Production Update on Fabiola

With two scenes completed, the family-run Catholic film studio continues production on its most ambitious film to date, with a planned release in 2028

Grangeville, Idaho - August 7th, 2026

Industrious Family Films continues to make steady progress on Fabiola, the first English-language feature adaptation of Cardinal Nicholas Wiseman's beloved 1854 novel. The studio has completed two scenes that will appear in the final film, with additional filming planned throughout 2027 and a planned release in 2028 as fundraising continues.

Directed by Mary Bowen, Fabiola tells the story of a young Roman noblewoman. When the sudden death of her father shatters her confidence in the pagan beliefs of imperial Rome, the proud noblewoman Fabiola begins searching for answers about life, death, and eternity. As the martyrdom of Saints Agnes and Sebastian transforms her heart, Fabiola must overcome her own pride and choose between the comforts of the world and the truth that could cost her everything.

Mary is leading the production alongside her mother, producer and casting director Kathleen Bowen, and her sister, writer and actress Faustina Bowen. The filmmakers have assembled a cast of experienced and emerging Christian actors, including Emily Hawk in the title role of Fabiola, Kaleb McConner as Fulvius and Joe McClane, host of A Catholic Take, in a special appearance as St. Hilarion.

Filming is centered in North Central Idaho, where custom-built sets and the region’s varied landscapes will help recreate ancient Rome, including the catacombs and the Basilica of Saint Agnes Outside the Walls. 

“We believe stories of the saints still have the power to change hearts,” said Mary Bowen, founder and director of Industrious Family Films. “Our family has spent years preparing for a project like Fabiola. With continued support, we can keep production moving forward and bring this powerful witness of faith to a new generation.”

Fabiola is expected to reach audiences through screenings in Catholic communities, a limited theatrical release, parish screenings, DVDs and streaming platforms, including Industrious Family Theater, the studio's subscription-based streaming service. In 2025, the streaming platform experienced a 45% year-over-year subscriber growth, reflecting the growing demand for authentic Catholic entertainment.

Industrious Family Films is inviting supporters to take part in bringing Fabiola to completion. Donations will help fund continued filming and post-production, while qualified supporters may also explore investment opportunities connected with the project.
